The Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT), @ladotlivable , is partnering with Council District 11 to plan a network of four bikeways connecting Westside neighborhoods and adjacent cities. The bike routes will feature traffic calming measures to make them comfortable for riders of all ages and abilities. Look at this new event at USC! This past Saturday at the Pico Blvd Farmers Market CASM members Nancy and Mario informed people about @ladotlivable Westside Mobility Projects at the Pico Blvd Farmers market. This network is intended to promote multimodal travel, north-south connections, and parking solutions within West LA. We will continue to support the need for bike safety and we hope to encourage other people to check out @ladotlivable Get ready for our next SAMOCAN Event which will be with Michael Schneider from @streetsforall. Michael Schneider, a native-born Angeleno, started Streets For All to change LA’s built environment from being car-centric to being multi-modal. Michael will walk us through his story, what led him to start Streets For All, the impact that it’s having, and how to get involved and change the city for good. You can RSVP in the link on our Bio! This week, we are featuring the cardinal catchfly scientifically known as Silene laciniata. This lovely perennial pairs wonderfully with other natives in gardens such as the previously featured California buckwheat. Have you seen the @cityofsantamonica Leaf Blower Policy and the changes allowing zero-emission electric leaf blowers? This updated leaf blower policy enables efficient landscaping while ensuring that equipment does not cause unhealthy noise and pollutant levels. This highly aromatic shrub serves as a foundational element of the coastal sage scrub community and is a preferred habitat for the endangered California gnatcatcher, often spotted in the Santa Monica Mountains. The City is relaunching Solar Santa Monica, a free service to help residents and businesses looking to go solar. Through Solar Santa Monica, owners of residential and commercial properties can find resources and experts with unbiased technical advice to help them navigate the various rules, incentives and financing options for solar arrays, battery storage, and more.
