Sunflowers have become a powerful symbol for climate justice movements across North America. Here’s why we’ve chosen them for Climate Action Santa Monica:
- Symbol of Resilience: Sunflowers can remove toxins from soil, symbolizing nature’s power to heal.
- Beacon of Hope: Their bright, cheerful appearance represents optimism in our fight for a sustainable future.
- Invitation to Connect: Sunflowers turn towards the sun, just as we turn towards each other to create change.
- Versatility: From seeds to oil, sunflowers provide food, fuel, and materials – a model of sustainability.
- Unity: Together, sunflowers create a striking visual impact, reminding us of the strength in collective action.
In addition to the sunflowers, we also handed out small enveloped containing native plant seeds, chances are you received one. This packet contains a butterfly mix obtained from the Theodore Payne Foundation. Your envelope may contain several of the following plant seeds:
