Climate Action Santa Monica (CASM) is looking for volunteers with a variety of talents and interests. CASM is volunteer-driven and locally focused.  We are collaborative, entrepreneurial, spirited, fun and have a great track record!  CASMs projects reflect the energy, talents and connections of its volunteers and partners.

Our work includes:

Education and Community-Building –  We aim to educate and inspire the community in positive climate action! We provide resources and information on high-impact actions and how you can plug in. We host regular events, including SAMOCAN webinars highlighting climate topics and local changemakers, and fun in-person community events in collaboration with other groups doing similar work.

Advocacy Campaigns  – We engage high-impact entities through targeted campaigns to have the biggest impact we can for climate emissions reductions and the community locally. Campaigns have included helping large energy users switch to renewable energy, and sustainable commutes to school. We are actively looking to collaborate on campaigns to have a broader regional reach.

Effecting Change Through Policy – We write letters and show up at meetings to influence key climate policy, especially locally.

Youth in Climate – Youth are the future and the inheritors of this planet. We support youth participation throughout the spectrum of our work.

We are looking for volunteers with skills and interest in these areas:

    • Social Media:  Post resources and events, create fun climate-themed content. We welcome your creative touch and inspiration!

    • SAMOCAN Webinars: Lead a webinar on a climate-related topic of your expertise.

    • Advocacy/Policy: Use your voice to make a difference. Quickly respond to “action alert” emails or texts requesting letters and support or dissent, speak at city council meetings, and other opportunities as they arise.

    • Community Outreach: Attend local environmental events on behalf of CASM and report back.

    • Research: Share existing expertise or research a topic new to you! We have an ongoing need for research on specific topics as they arise. Examples include youth climate fellowships, events and organizations for CASM to collaborate with, and local food waste and composting programs.

    • Photography: Attend CASM events and collect pictures and videos for our media.

    • Live Events: Help out with CASM’s in-person collaborative events in a variety or roles. This could include event setup, registration, staffing a CASM info booth, sharing a skill or offering, etc.

More opportunities may be available. If you are interested in volunteering, please fill the Google Form below. Thank you!
